It’s the first day of spring. I’m so glad winter is coming to an end. It seems to get harder and harder to get up in the dark and swim in cold water. Spring, and the approach of summer, is a tonic to me. I’m going to really enjoy it living here at Manly through the summer this year. I celebrated the arrival of the new season by having a double session in the gym today – 1.5 hours. I haven’t been for a couple of weeks, in fact I have only been back once since returning from the Jatbula track. That day, about a fortnight ago, my right knee was so sore that we couldn’t do any exercises and Belinda and I had to fill in the session just doing stretching. My knee has been very sore since coming back from the Northern Territory and I must have done some sort of damage although I don’t know what. Belinda seems to think it’s ligament and muscle tightness caused by the walking and that it’s nothing serious. We tried to do some of the exercises I was doing before I left but without much joy. I’m even having trouble stepping up and back off a stand. It’s very disappointing. I think I must’ve hurt it when I stepped down off the rock ledge and landed on my bad leg. It’s not swollen and the pain seems to be improving so hopefully I will be able to get stuck into the leg exercises. I’m falling into the old trap of doing a lot of swimming and not enough rehab on my leg. That just won’t work. There is no way I could go skiing at the moment.
