Rainy cold day in Manly , but a flat swimming track Sunday 21, June 2015
Rainy, cold Friday morning. Dogged it. No swimming today, straight into work.Gym at 10am, which was my postponed session from Wednesday. This was one of the hardest days. I mentioned that I was having difficulty walking down stairs. So the whole session was based around that. I had to stand on one of the plastic gym steps and keep stepping up and back, leaving my injured leg on the step. It was the equivalent of walking down a set of stairs always stepping down with the good leg. The weight has to be borne by the bad leg. She made me step down slowly. Going down was difficult but ok. Stepping up and backwards onto the step, taking the weight on my bad leg, very difficult. This exercise is the most difficult she has given me. It’s a variation on what we were doing with the BOSU ball. Then we did squats starting from a kneeling position on the ground and standing straight up ie the opposite of a normal squat which is to stand up and kneel down. Had to do 15 on each leg – very difficult. Then we started to do some sideways lunges. These are designed to stretch the groin and hamstring muscles. They were not so bad. Everything hurt at the end. My leg – the broken bone bit – is giving me no problem at all. Everything else, the muscles and soft tissue are absolutely weak and stuffed.
